Readings from three NOAA sensors, matched to each beach
Water temperatures vary around the Cape: Cape Cod Bay, Nantucket Sound and the open Atlantic can differ by several degrees, especially in summer. Each beach below shows the latest reading from its nearest working sensor: NOAA's Woods Hole station, the Cape Cod Bay buoy or the Nantucket Sound buoy. There's no sensor on the ocean side, so Atlantic-facing beaches such as Nauset, Coast Guard, Marconi and Race Point show the Cape Cod Bay reading, and the water there can be several degrees different.
